Frequently Asked Questions

Samples:
How should plasma/serum samples be stored?
How long can samples be stored for?
For best results, samples should be assayed or used as soon as possible upon collection. For plasma/serum samples, we do not recommend storage for longer than 6-8 months, even if kept frozen.
Peptide Extraction:
Why is peptide extraction important?
What materials are necessary for plasma extraction?
The following materials are necessary to perform plasma extraction: C-18 SEP-Columns (Catalog No. RK-SEPCOL-1) Buffer A (Catalog No. RK-BA-1) Buffer B (Catalog No. RK-BB-1) Each box of SEP-columns comes with 50 individual columns. These columns can hold 3 ml of volume and cannot be reused. One bottle of Buffer A and Buffer B is enough to perform 20 sample extractions.
Antibodies:
Do you raise your own antibodies?
Yes! All of our antibodies are raised in-house at our facility in California (USA). This gives us maximum control over the quality of our antibodies and helps us track any antibody back to its exact original source.
Are your antibodies monoclonal or polyclonal?
All of our antibodies are polyclonal.
What is the best way to store antibodies?
How do you raise your antibodies?
What is the difference between "Antibodies" and "Purified IgG"?
Tracers:
What is the radioactive activity of your tracers?
How should I store the I-125 labeled tracers?
Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA) Kits:
What is the difference between an EIA and an ELISA kit?
What is the best way to store EIA/ELISA kits?
How much sample volume will I need?
Can I run multiple assays per kit?
What sample types can be used?
How many samples can be measured with one kit?
What is the shelf-life of your EIA/ELISA kits?
Peptides:
What is the best way to store peptides?
Lyophilized peptides should be stored at +4°C. Under these conditions, most peptides are stable for up to 6 months. After rehydration, aliquot the solution and freeze at -20°C to -80°C. Rehydrated, frozen peptides are typically stable for 3 months. Please avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
Peptides containing Trp, Cys, and Met residues can be easily oxidized and are therefore less stable.
What do the numbers in parentheses, e.g. (7-26), mean?
What is the longest peptide sequence you can make?
112 amino acids
I can't find the peptide I want. What should I do?
In addition to the 3000+ peptides we offer as part of our catalog, we can also synthesis custom peptides. Please call or email us for a quote.
What is the minimum quantity required for a custom order?
Minimum quantity for a custom peptide is 1mg. We can produce orders up to kg scale.
Delivery Time:
What is the delivery time for peptides?
We deliver peptides within 1-3 business days of the order if they are in stock. For custom peptides, it depends on the sequence and difficulty. Typically 2-3 weeks.
What is the delivery time for labeled peptides?
For non-radioactive labeled peptides, we typically deliver the product in 3-6 business days. Radioactive labeled peptides are made to order and take 1-2 weeks to deliver.
What is the delivery time for RIA kits?
What is the delivery time for antibodies?
We deliver antibodies within 1-3 business days of the order.
What is the delivery time for EIA/ELISA kits?
We deliver non-radioactive assay kits within 3 business days of the order.
